Street Construction Update
The Association would like to provide an update regarding the city work being completed in front of your building:
The sewer pipe and water main replacement has been completed on Gresham Street!
Fortunately for Gresham Street residents, the Coastal Commission provided SC Valley Engineering a waiver on the construction moratorium between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Workers will now be allowed to work past Memorial Day to finish work on Gresham and Graham streets, in an effort to speed up completion of the project.
Next week (5/29) they will be working on installing the water service connections.
The following week (6/5) they will do testing (for leaks) and chlorination.
Once they receive a green light from the testing, they will base-pave the trench lines (the areas of Gresham that were dug up for the water and sewer.) The base-pave will be hot asphalt. The street will be better than it is now, but will not be totally resurfaced yet. The repaving of the trench lines will occur sometime during the month of June.
Resurfacing the (concrete) sidewalks is done by a subcontractor. There are no specific dates set for this, but it will be set up soon. Ideally they will come in soon after the base-paving is done on the street. It will be coördinated so the subcontractor can do many areas of sidewalks at the same time, not just the sidewalk in front of Bay Scene.
Gresham Street is on the books for a resurfacing, which is a full overlay of the entire street. Unfortunately, this will not be done anytime in the near future. It’s likely to happen in early 2024. Then your street will be brand new and smooth from curb to curb!
